Discovering the properties of ice

This week Pre-School had fun exploring ice. They filled various containers with water and then put them in the freezer to see what would happen to the water.

We then took the containers out of the freezer and we noticed the water had changed and turned into ice! The children were eager to explore how the ice felt. They discovered it was wet, slippery and very cold to touch and that it could break if dropped.

We left the ice out so we could find out what happened next. We quickly observed the ice beginning to melt. The children were challenged to find out whether the big or smaller pieces of ice melted first. We are looking forward to hearing about which one it was!
